Peanut Morphology

Peanuts are much loved by many people because they have a distinctive aroma and taste.

At first it was planted by Indian tribes and now this plant has spread all over the world.

The country that supplies the largest peanuts in the world is Brazil.

In Indonesia, this type of bean is widely used to make chili sauce, gado-gado seasoning, cakes and so on.

Actually there are various types of peanuts, but what we encounter on the market is the type that has the Latin name Arachis hypogaea L.

This plant has 3 main parts including leaves, roots, and stems.

As for the reproductive organs of soil, namely flowers, fruit and peanut seeds.

In general, the cultivation of this plant is divided into two types according to the shape or location of the lateral branches, namely the creeping type and the straight type.

There is a mutualistic symbiotic relationship between peanuts and the bacteria N. Rhizobium Sp. causes the roots of this plant to have nodules or nodules.

     Stems, leaves and flowers

Peanut plants have short stems and knuckles.

At first the stems grow single but over time the stems grow branching like clumps. The height of this plant reaches 30-50 cm depending on the variety.

The leaf shape is compound with even fins, consisting of four round, oval, or slightly sharp and hairy leaves.

While the flowers of this plant are shaped like butterflies. It has a yellowish color, long stalks and grows from the leaf axils.

Usually, after 4-6 weeks of age, the pea plants will flower and the flowers will self-pollinate at night. Peanut flowers will bloom for 24 hours then wither and fall.

Peanuts have flowers that are yellow and bloom at night. The flower pollination process is carried out at night before the flowers bloom.
